Chimney repairs
A chimney is a tall brick structure standing out in the weather with a hole in the top. Pointing washes out, flaunching cracks, flashings lift and the stack lets water into the roof and the rooms below. We repair chimneys or take them down, whichever makes sense.
Repointing from about £250; removal from about £1,200
Chimney work
- Repointing brickwork and replacing spalled bricks
- Re-flaunching around the pots and replacing cracked pots
- Capping or venting unused chimneys to stop rain and keep airflow
- Rebuilding stacks that have gone beyond repair
- Removing redundant stacks down to below the roofline and tiling over
- New lead flashings and back gutters
- Cowls and bird guards
Removing a chimney
Taking a redundant stack down to below the roof and tiling over is often cheaper than rebuilding it and removes the leak risk for good. Where the stack is shared with a neighbour or supports the breast below, we'll explain what's involved before quoting.
Access
Chimney work needs scaffolding or a tower for safety; that's included in your quote, not added afterwards.
